Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has paid homage to his elder brother, Adedeji Adeleke, following his victory in the 2026 governorship election.
Adeleke visited his brother, who is the father of Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, on Wednesday after receiving his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osogbo, the state capital.
A video from the visit circulating on social media showed the governor prostrating before his elder brother as a sign of respect and appreciation.
Adedeji Adeleke warmly received the governor and prayed for him during the visit.
The businessman had earlier spoken about Adeleke’s victory in a video shared on Monday, attributing the outcome of the election to prayers rather than the financial inducements allegedly offered to voters.
He said he had prayed on election day that voters would accept whatever money was offered but still cast their ballots for Adeleke.
“On the day of the election, when I heard the kind of money they were spending, I went back to my little corner in my room, and I knelt down, and I prayed to God,” he said.
He added that he prayed for voters to “collect their money, but let them still vote for Ademola Adeleke.”
Adeleke secured re-election after polling 511,067 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 444,815 votes.
The governor’s latest visit to his elder brother came shortly after INEC formally presented him with his Certificate of Return following the election victory.
