Popular Nigerian entertainer and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a strong and fearless leader who believes that a new Nigeria is possible.
Charly Boy, also known as Area Fada, said Nigerians should not mistake Obasanjo’s jovial nature and frequent laughter for weakness, stressing that the former president remains a bold personality who should not be taken for granted.
The entertainer stated this in a post shared on his 𝕏 account, where he drew similarities between himself and the former Nigerian leader.
According to Charly Boy, despite coming from different backgrounds, he and Obasanjo share several characteristics, including their energy, humour, sharp wit and strong personalities.
He wrote:
“Sometimes, I look at Baba OBJ and Area Fada, and I just laugh.
“Two men from different worlds. But somehow, plenty of things join dem together.
“First of all, old age no dey show for their body. Both of dem still get the kind energy wey fit humble some young people.
“And tell me, when you ever see either of them carry long face?
“These two men? Wahala no dey finish around them. Dem joke, dem laugh, dem tease; their wit sharp well well.”
Charly Boy further warned that the light-hearted nature of both men should not be interpreted as weakness.
“But make nobody mistake the laughter for weakness. Because both of dem fit play with you, but no go try mess with them,” he said.
He described both himself and Obasanjo as stubborn and fearless, while highlighting their strong personalities and determination to pursue their convictions.
“Stubborn? Maybe. Fearless? Definitely,” Charly Boy added.
He concluded by stating that, beyond their humour and bold personalities, both he and Obasanjo are passionate about the possibility of building a better Nigeria.
“Because like OBJ, like Charly Boy, both of them are concerned and particular that a New Nigeria is possible,” he said.
