Accord Party Crisis: Imumolen Rejects Allegiance Claims, Seeks Court Resolution

Factional presidential candidate of the Accord Party for the 2027 general elections, Chris Imumolen, has dismissed claims that he pledged allegiance to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, insisting that his involvement in the party’s internal dispute is solely aimed at restoring due process and legitimate leadership.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Day Break programme on Thursday, Imumolen clarified that he harbours no personal opposition to any individual seeking political office and has not aligned himself with Governor Adeleke or any other aspirant.

According to him, his primary concern is ensuring that the Accord Party follows lawful procedures in its leadership and candidate selection processes to avoid future legal complications that could jeopardise electoral victories.

“I have not pledged any personal allegiance to Governor Adeleke. I have no issue with anyone aspiring to political office,” Imumolen said.

He explained that his focus remains on safeguarding the integrity of the party and preventing situations where elected officials could lose their positions due to procedural irregularities.

“My only concern is ensuring that the right process is followed in Accord, so the party does not produce a governor who could lose office over irregularities,” he stated.

Imumolen further maintained that his legal battle is centred on reclaiming the party’s chairmanship position, which he believes he legitimately won.

“I’m only trying to make sure that the chairmanship position of Accord, which I rightfully won, is restored through the proper legal process, which is currently before the court,” he added.

The development comes amid ongoing internal disputes within the Accord Party as stakeholders position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
