The just concluded training camp at Ogwule town, in Agatu, Benue State offered the kids the rare privilege to be tutored by world-class coaches

The A’S Ahmedu Foundation 3 days  Basketball Camp is aimed at discovering kids and teaching them basic worthy basketball skills, with the sublime vision of nurturing the prospects to stardom through the commitments and goodwill of this great foundation, as its runs with the mandate and vision to give hope and help to kids at the grassroots to excel through sports.

A 3-Day Basketball Camp for the kids in Agatu Local Government Areas of the State, slatted for 20-22 December 2022, in Ogwule town organized by A’s Ahmedu Foundation, a non-government organization, has been brought to a close. 

The program which kicked off at 9:00 am on Monday 20, 2022, at the Town’s Central Park had over 150 kids in attendance that enjoyed the unique and exciting opportunity to experience specialized intensive basketball training.

A’s Ahmedu Foundation paraded experienced coaches which were carefully selected. They are qualified and prominent coaches with the passion to teach and improve kids’ basketball skills, and also motivate and inspire them.

The training camp which was designed to discover grassroots talents with the intent to nurture and guide such to the international stage enjoyed the goodwill of prominent bodies and was also endorsed by the  Legends of the game.

A’S Ahmedu Foundation is a non-profit organization with the prime objective to contribute positively to the development and projection of Nigerian youths for a brighter and more rewarding future through grassroots sports development.

The just concluded training camp at Ogwule town, in Agatu, Benue State offered the kids the rare privilege to be tutored by world-class coaches,  learning the basics of the game from the very best around, and not leaving out sports ethics, discipline and values.

Adewale Akindano, a life coach and the Media Officer of the A’s Ahmedu Foundation said the basketball clinic was a remarkable success, as it brings a peculiar atmosphere at this time and a ray of hope and light to the people of Agatu, particularly the kids in Ogwule.

Also speaking, Mr Lukman Omikunle, the Foundation’s Project Manager and Media consultant expressed confidence and positives in the A’S Ahmedu Foundation’s projects, as its carrying out sterling and destiny-shaping programs. Moreover, Ogwule 2022 has been heavily commended by parents whose children attended the 3-day clinic.

According to the coaching director, coach Martina Onma Emmanuel, a former D’Tigeress player and founder of MIBAHA Basketball, the training camp has given the children a worthy foundation and the right to excel through sports.

“Talents discovered at this program shall be monitored meticulously and nurtured and be exposed to the very best of international ethical standards and skills of the game, with the uncompromising and lofty aim of producing world-class stars.”

Also, the technical director of the program, Coach Dele Awonuga, popularly known as Coach Carter, said the kids were self-motivated, with amazing qualities and are all eager to come for more training sessions as the camp progressed.

The mode and styles of training the kids, by the coaches were carefully selected for the clinic, which made it easier for the kids to learn the rudiments quickly and developed an interest in the game.

There were euphoria and excitement in the town, as prayers and praises were showered on the organizers for putting up such a program, saying, ” it’s highly welcoming and immensely appreciated, as it helps to lighten up the atmosphere of the town, it also promotes and rekindled the interest for the game of basketball and gives the opportunity to kids to pursue and lead a useful life through sports.

Peter Ahmedu, a basketball coach, popularly called, “coach P” by his players and numerous admirers is the founder and president of this noble and non-profit making organization. He was delighted and grateful to God for using him as an instrument, to offer hope and opportunity for kids to excel in life through sports.                              

It’s worthy and commendable that he has since been in this selfless business of discovering and nurturing talents for a brighter future, through such sporting projects, in his own humble capacity.
