President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on his resounding victory in the state’s governorship election, describing the outcome as a clear endorsement of continuity, stability and people-centred governance.
Oyebanji, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared winner of Saturday’s governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday morning, securing a historic second term in office.
In a congratulatory message, President Tinubu praised the people of Ekiti State for their peaceful conduct during the election and for reaffirming their confidence in the governor’s leadership.
The President also commended security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process, ensuring a peaceful and credible exercise.
Tinubu urged INEC to sustain its commitment to conducting free, fair and credible elections as the country prepares for the Osun State governorship election in August and the 2027 general elections.
The President noted that Oyebanji’s overwhelming victory reflected widespread public approval of his administration’s performance across key sectors.
According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the governor’s first term recorded notable achievements in infrastructure development, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare and rural development.
“The renewed mandate is therefore a clear vote of confidence in continuity, stability, and people-centred governance,” Tinubu stated.
With the victory, Oyebanji becomes the first governor in Ekiti State’s history to secure back-to-back re-election, further cementing his political standing in the state.
