Fayose Lands REA Chairmanship as Tinubu Makes 26 Fresh Federal Appointments

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, as chairman of the board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The President also approved the appointment of 25 other individuals into key positions across 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Monday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Fayose will chair the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as members and non-executive directors. The board also includes the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three executive directors already serving in the agency.

President Tinubu also approved appointments into the National Wages Commission. Major General Bindawa will chair the commission, while former Lagos lawmaker Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas was appointed secretary.

Other commissioners appointed are Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo) and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna). Additional members include Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).

Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who previously served as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, has been redeployed as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.

The President also appointed Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

Engineer Julius Oloro was named Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), replacing Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.

Tinubu also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman. Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.

In addition, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, succeeding Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was earlier reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund.

To fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mathias Byuan as Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority, Tinubu appointed economist and legal scholar Gisaor Vincent Iorja, who currently serves as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission.

According to the Presidency, all the appointments take immediate effect.
