“Odun Omo Iganmode Afeleja” is the biggest annual cultural festival in Otta, Aworiland
Members of the central planning committee of the 2021 Iganmode cultural festival on Tuesday visited the four coronet monarchs in the ancient town to solicit their maximum and unalloyed support for the much-anticipated fiesta.
The team led by the chairman of the committee, Princess Adenike Akindele-Eleku, was warmly received by the monarchs of the four prominent quarters that constitute the Aworiland.
The Chairman sub-committee Media and Publicity, Erelu Afedesewa, Kafayat Adeola Orisile, informed that all the traditional rulers respectively endorsed the festival and as well promised to support with all necessary logistics.
The Ajana of Ijana-Otta, Oba Clement Akinyemi, who welcomed the working committee to his palace, promised total support from his domain to ensure the success of the 2021 Odun Omo Iganmode Afeleja Festival.
The delegate of the Central Planning Committee while at the palace of Oba Akeem Kolawole, the Onikotun of Otun Ota, noted that the support of the monarch and his subject is paramount to the success of the 2021 cultural festival. In his response, Oba Kolawole who prayed for the committee assured the team of absolute support from his domain. “The project, Odun Omo Iganmode Afeleja 2021 is our collective responsibility,” Onikotun said.
Similarly, at the palace of Oba Sikiru Anibire, the Onikosi of Osi-Otta, the planning committee delegate informed that the monarch promised his total commitment to the success of the festival.
The palace of Akogun Oruba was not left out in the tour of the four prominent quarters of the ancient Aworiland. The Akogun of Oruba, Oba Wadud Deinde, like his counterparts, expressed his readiness and desire to work with the committee for the success of the cultural fiesta.
Speaking to our reporter, Adeola Orisile, said the visitation to the monarchs yielded positive results as all the royal fathers showed commitment towards a successful festival. “They all promised their unalloyed support for a successful staging of an epical and memorable festival,” Adeola said.
Members of the delegate of the Central Planning Committee that made the tour around the Awori Kingdom include, the Vice-chairman of the Central Committee, Princess Adenike Akindele-Eleku, Prince Femi Fadina, the chairman sub-committee, Culture and festival, Prince Sulaimon Olusesi, General Secretary, and the Chairman, Media and Publicity sub-committee, Erelu Afedesewa Kafayat Adeola Orisile.
The “Odun Omo Iganmode Afeleja” is the biggest annual cultural festival in Otta, Aworiland. The 2021 edition comes with the theme; “Culture: A Module For Sustainable Leadership In Nigeria”. The ancient town is gearing up for an unprecedented week-long display of the Awori cultural values and ethics.
The 2021 edition is scheduled to kick off on the 13th of December with the grand finale coming up on December 18.
Dele Bankole, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee had announced that the Ogun State Ministry of Culture & Tourism has committed to making the annual cultural festival a state affair.
