Isaac Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has expressed confidence that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) would emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election if the poll is conducted freely and fairly.
Fayose made the assertion in a Facebook post on Sunday while responding to comments by Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, who reportedly claimed that he lacked electoral influence in Ekiti State.
Reacting to the claim, Fayose alleged that elections in the state have been marred by vote buying and intimidation of political opponents.
He questioned why politicians would allegedly resort to spending as much as ₦50,000 to buy votes if he truly had no electoral relevance.
Fayose also claimed that some of his supporters were arrested days before the Ekiti governorship election, insisting that electoral strength should be measured by the people’s votes rather than what he described as election manipulation or judicial outcomes.
According to him, the NDC would secure victory “before 12 noon” if elections were transparent and credible.
He maintained that the ruling party’s only advantage over the opposition was alleged electoral malpractice, adding that Nigerians were aware of the situation despite remaining largely silent.
