Kaduna Gas Explosion: Buhari sympathises with residents

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday sympathised with victims of the gas explosion that occurred in Kaduna on Saturday.

In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President said that his heart was with the victims at their hour of distress.

Buhari said he was touched by the losses of life and economic ruin suffered by these “hard working Nigerians striving to make a living through honest labour.”

He added, “As a human being, I fully understand the economic impact of this accident on the lives of these hardworking Nigerians.”

Buhari however advised Nigerians to pay greater attention to safety procedures and precautionary measures in their business places.

According to him, precautionary measures can help to avert disasters.

The gas explosion on Saturday evening burnt down 14 shops and a pharmacy with one person injured.

The incident occurred on Ibrahim Taiwo Road by Abeokuta Street in Kaduna.

Residents mobilised to put out the fire before it spread further in the densely populated area.

Most of the shops affected by the gas explosion contained kitchen equipment, gas cylinders and re-filing facilities.
