“Women’s Feuds Are Complicated” — Ogogo Declines to Mediate Akindele, Abraham Rift

LAGOS — Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has distanced himself from the ongoing feud between actresses Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, describing such disputes as too complex to mediate.

Speaking in a recent interview, the respected actor said disagreements among women are often difficult to resolve, warning that men who вмешт in such matters risk worsening the situation.

According to him, “conflicts between women are worse than Hitler’s war,” emphasizing that, unlike men who can settle issues quickly, women’s disputes tend to be more complicated.

Ogogo questioned the basis of the rift, noting that both actresses are successful in their own right and have no reason for prolonged conflict.

“What is the reason for the fight when God has already blessed both of them?” he asked, expressing confidence that both parties would eventually resolve their differences.

The controversy gained traction after a viral video showed Akindele appearing to ignore Abraham’s greeting at a movie premiere hosted by Iyabo Ojo.

Iyabo Ojo has since confirmed she previously attempted to mediate between the two stars but has stepped back from further involvement.

Meanwhile, Kolawole Ajeyemi, Toyin Abraham’s husband, publicly praised his wife for her composure, suggesting she has chosen to remain silent despite the growing public attention.

Observers say the situation highlights recurring tensions within Nollywood, though many fans remain hopeful that both actresses will reconcile in due course.

Federal High Court Dismisses Sowore’s Suit Against DSS and Meta Over Facebook Post

0

A Federal High Court has dismissed a fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by politician and online publisher, Omoyele Sowore, against the Department of State Services and Meta Platforms Incorporated.

Justice Mohammed Umar ruled yesterday that Sowore’s claims lacked merit, declining to grant any of the reliefs he sought. The suit stemmed from an August 26, 2025, Facebook post in which Sowore referred to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a “criminal,” criticizing the President for claiming there is no more corruption in Nigeria. Following the post, Meta deactivated Sowore’s account, allegedly acting on complaints by the DSS.

Sowore argued that the takedown violated his rights to fair hearing, freedom of expression, and freedom of association under Sections 36(1), 39, and 40 of the 1999 Constitution.

However, Justice Umar held that the DSS, its DG, and Meta are non-judicial bodies, and the right to a fair hearing applies only in judicial proceedings. He also emphasized that freedom of expression is not absolute and can be restricted to protect the rights, reputation, or privacy of others.

The judge further clarified that Meta acted independently under its platform policies, and the DSS merely utilized reporting channels to flag content it deemed inappropriate.

On the reliefs sought, Justice Umar concluded that Sowore failed to establish that his constitutional rights were threatened, dismissing the suit in its entirety. The court also awarded N1.5 million in costs against Sowore, N500,000 to each respondent, following requests for legal costs by their counsel.

EFCC Seeks Final Forfeiture of 57 Properties Linked to Ex-AGF Abubakar Malami

0

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has filed an application at the Federal High Court in Abuja for the final forfeiture of 57 properties allegedly connected to former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

In a motion on notice, the EFCC argued that Malami, his family, and associated companies failed to provide sufficient evidence to challenge a previous interim forfeiture order.

The respondents in the case include Malami, his son Abdulaziz, his wife Hajia Bashir Asabe, Abiru’ Rahman Abubakar Malami, and several corporate entities, including Rayhaan Bustan and Agro Allied Limited, Mountain View Gold and Jewellery Limited, Amasdul Oil and Gas Limited, Azbir Arena Nigeria Limited, and Meethaq Hotels Limited.

Other entities listed are Rayhaan University Limited/GTE, Rayhaan Hotels Limited, Zeenoor Hotels Limited, Kawsar Ben of Brahim, Alhaji Muktaka Usman Junju, and Real Edge Agro Services Limited.

The EFCC cited six grounds for seeking the final forfeiture, asserting that the court has statutory authority under Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud-Related Offences Act, 2006, to grant the requested reliefs. The agency described the process as a non-conviction-based asset forfeiture proceeding, claiming the properties are reasonably suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities.

Following the interim order, published in a national newspaper on January 9, 2026, the EFCC argued that “no sufficient cause has been shown why the properties should not be finally forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.”

Supporting its application, the EFCC disclosed that it had received multiple petitions alleging corruption, abuse of office, and fraud against the former minister. Investigations included reviewing financial records from commercial banks, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), and geographic verification from the Abuja Geographical Information System (AGIS).

The commission also conducted property inspections in Kebbi, Kano, and Abuja, evaluated assets, and interviewed relevant individuals linked to the investigation.

According to the EFCC, Malami received N89,664,000 as salary between 2015 and 2023, along with N12,158,400 in severance and N253,608,500 in travel-related allowances, which were declared to the CCB.

The EFCC claimed that most properties were acquired without proper building permits and that several assets were purchased either in Malami’s name or through front companies to disguise the unlawful origin of funds. Among the listed properties are sites for Rayhaan University in Kebbi, as well as assets in Abuja, Kano, Kebbi, and Kaduna states.

Justice Abdulmalik has scheduled April 21, 2026, for the hearing of the motion for final forfeiture.

Uncertainty Clouds Ibadan Chiefs’ Coronation as High Chiefs Seek Postponement, Palace Denies Rift

0

Uncertainty has trailed the planned coronation of three Ibadan High Chiefs to beaded-crown wearing Obas, as the affected chiefs have formally requested a postponement, casting doubt on the scheduled ceremony.

The development comes amid swirling rumours of a rift between the Olubadan palace and the Oyo State Government—claims that have now been firmly dismissed by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Chief Adeola Oloko, the monarch clarified that there is no disagreement between the palace and Governor Seyi Makinde, describing such reports as unfounded.

“The Olubadan is hale, hearty, and fully present in Ibadan, carrying out his royal duties. There is no rift whatsoever between Kabiyesi and the state government,” the statement noted.

According to the palace, the three High Chiefs slated for elevation have officially informed the Olubadan of their inability to attend the coronation ceremony and have requested that the event be postponed. This request has already been communicated to the state government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.

The Oyo State Government had earlier fixed the coronation for April 3 at Mapo Hall, Ibadan. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Demola Ojo, had confirmed that the elevation ceremony would proceed as scheduled.

However, the chiefs’ request for postponement has now thrown the planned event into uncertainty, even as speculation continues over the political undertones surrounding the elevation.

Observers have linked the move—particularly the elevation of Ali—to potential political calculations ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Oyo State, where he is reportedly being considered as a contender under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Despite the growing speculation, the palace insists the situation remains procedural, urging the public to disregard rumours and await official updates on a new date for the coronation.

Palmtrees Incubator Partners NEON to Spotlight Emerging Global Screenwriters

Palmtrees, a screenplay development incubator founded by Funa Maduka, has announced a strategic partnership with NEON for its inaugural cohort, aimed at discovering and nurturing emerging screenwriting talent across underserved regions.

In a statement, the incubator called for applications from writers in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, and Oceania. Interested applicants are required to submit a treatment alongside the first 15 pages of a feature-length genre screenplay.

Selected participants will undergo intensive script development through one-on-one mentorship sessions with professional story analysts. Writers will also receive financial compensation throughout the programme, which will culminate in a three-week in-person residency.

According to the organisers, between eight and ten writers will be selected for the first cohort, with eligibility open to both first-time screenwriters and those with prior production credits. Selection, they emphasised, will be based strictly on the originality of the project and the clarity of the writer’s voice.

Applications opened on March 31, 2026, via palmtrees.dev, with submissions closing on June 1, 2026.

Speaking on the collaboration, Maduka praised NEON’s track record in elevating global cinema, noting that the company has consistently taken bold creative risks.

“NEON has expanded the boundaries of world cinema in recent years. Their instinct to support daring storytelling aligns perfectly with our vision,” she said.

In response, NEON’s founder and CEO, Tom Quinn, described the partnership as an opportunity to amplify underrepresented voices in the global film industry.

“Some of the most compelling stories today are coming from regions that have historically lacked global visibility. We are excited to work with Palmtrees to support the next generation of filmmakers,” Quinn said.

Tinubu Unveils AI Surveillance Plan to End Plateau Killings, Vows Justice for Victims

0

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured residents of Plateau State that the spate of deadly attacks in the state will soon come to an end, unveiling a sweeping security overhaul powered by advanced technology.

During a condolence visit to Jos following the March 29 killings in Angwan Rukuba, the President announced plans to deploy over 5,000 artificial intelligence-enabled surveillance cameras across the state to strengthen security operations and prevent future violence.

Addressing grieving families, traditional rulers, and community leaders at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Tinubu pledged decisive action against perpetrators, declaring that the tragic incident would not be repeated.

“I promise you this experience will not happen again. We will ensure justice is served and peace is restored,” he said.

The President revealed that the AI-driven surveillance system—already operational in Lagos and Enugu—will be coordinated by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijjani, in collaboration with security agencies and the state government.

According to him, deployment will begin immediately in Jos before extending to other parts of the state, with the aim of boosting intelligence gathering, enhancing response times, and ultimately saving lives.

“This is not just about reacting to crime; it is about preventing it,” Tinubu stressed.

He also issued a firm directive to security chiefs, including the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, urging them to track down and prosecute those responsible for the attacks without delay.

“There must be no hiding place for those who take innocent lives,” the President warned, while commending the efforts of the armed forces and police.

Expressing deep sympathy for victims, Tinubu acknowledged the pain of loss, noting that no compensation could replace lives lost but assured that the Federal Government would provide support to affected families.

To ensure a coordinated humanitarian response, he directed the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Bernard Doro, to compile a comprehensive database of victims and impacted communities for equitable assistance.

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, described the attack—which claimed 29 lives—as a setback to the state’s recent progress in restoring peace and investor confidence. He, however, expressed optimism that the situation would soon be contained with federal support.

The governor also welcomed the approval for the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards, describing it as a crucial step toward strengthening grassroots security.

Prominent stakeholders at the meeting called for long-term solutions to the recurring crisis. Former governor Jonah Jang urged the President to convene a high-level stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, warning that the violence was spreading from rural to urban areas.

Similarly, former governor Simon Lalong emphasized unity among Plateau communities, noting that lasting peace would require collective responsibility beyond security interventions.

Also speaking, former Deputy Speaker Ahmed Idris Wase called for improved coordination among security agencies, particularly as the farming season approaches.

In a show of solidarity, APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, commended Tinubu’s swift intervention, saying the visit had rekindled hope among residents and would strengthen ongoing security efforts.

The visit was marked by emotional moments as the President met with families of victims, offering words of comfort and reassurance amid grief.

Tinubu Orders 5,000 AI Surveillance Cameras in Plateau After Deadly Jos Attack

Jos, Nigeria — April 2, 2026

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate deployment of over 5,000 artificial intelligence-enabled surveillance cameras across Plateau State, in a sweeping move to strengthen security following the recent deadly attack in Jos.

The directive came on Thursday during the President’s visit to the state after the March 29 assault on residents of Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area, which claimed several lives.

Tinubu said the AI-powered surveillance system—under the supervision of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijjani—will be rolled out first in Jos before expanding statewide, in collaboration with the Plateau State Government and security agencies.

“I promise you that this experience will not repeat itself,” the President assured victims and residents during a meeting at the arrival lounge of the Yakubu Gowon Airport.

He explained that the initiative builds on similar security infrastructure already implemented in Lagos and Enugu States, aimed at boosting intelligence gathering, surveillance, and rapid response by law enforcement agencies.

Visibly moved, Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the killings.

“It is only God that can give you joy and comfort. No amount of money can recompense for lost souls,” he said.

The President issued a strong directive to security chiefs, including the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, and Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to ensure those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.

“You must unearth and find the killers,” Tinubu declared.

He also directed the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Bernard Doro, to compile comprehensive data on victims to ensure fair and timely distribution of relief support.

Addressing political leaders and stakeholders, the President called for unity and proactive measures to prevent future violence.

“Why is the past not a source of lessons to us?” he asked, referencing key figures including Jonah Jang, Simon Lalong, Ahmed Idris Wase, Nentawe Yilwatda, and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

“We were elected on a promise of peace and security… not to create widows and widowers,” Tinubu said.
“I want to be here to establish peace.”

Governor Mutfwang described the attack as a temporary setback, expressing confidence in ongoing security efforts.

“We will win this war against insecurity,” he said, while thanking the President for approving the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards to strengthen local security.

Also speaking, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda praised Tinubu’s intervention, noting that the crisis has persisted for years but expressing optimism about a turning point.

Former governor Jonah David Jang warned of a dangerous escalation, as violence spreads from rural communities into urban centres.

“The fact that the violence is now leaving the villages and getting into the townships is a dimension that we do not want to see,” he cautioned.

Similarly, former governor Simon Lalong stressed that lasting peace must come from within the people.

“It is not security agencies that will bring peace — Plateau people will bring peace,” he said.

Former Deputy Speaker Ahmed Idris Wase highlighted ongoing security challenges, revealing fresh casualties in parts of the state.

“In Wase and Kanke alone, last week we lost over 14 people,” he disclosed, calling for stronger coordination between air and ground forces.

The President’s visit comes amid growing concerns over recurring violence in Plateau State, with the Federal Government reiterating its resolve to restore lasting peace and protect lives across the region.

Nigeria Yet to See Tinubu’s Full Potential, Says Senator Daniel

Gbenga Daniel says Nigeria has yet to witness President Tinubu’s full potential, as he reflects on leadership and national development

“You Haven’t Seen Tinubu’s Full Potential Yet” — Gbenga Daniel Speaks at 70th Birthday Event

Abuja, Nigeria — April 2, 2026

The Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, has declared that Nigeria is yet to experience the full leadership capacity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing strong confidence in the President’s ability to deliver transformative governance.

Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja during the unveiling of four books marking his 70th birthday, Daniel described Tinubu as a pragmatic and deeply intellectual leader whose best is still ahead.

The high-profile ceremony, held at the Yar’Adua Centre, drew an array of dignitaries, including former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.

According to Daniel, Tinubu played a pivotal role in shaping his approach to governance during his tenure as Ogun State governor.

“Nigeria has yet to witness the peak of President Tinubu’s capabilities,” he said.

He noted that several policies implemented under his administration were inspired by Tinubu’s governance model, describing the President as “one of the most practical-minded individuals” he has encountered in public service.

Daniel added that Tinubu’s ideas and leadership style have influenced many political leaders across the country.

Representing the President at the event, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, praised Daniel as a trusted ally and longstanding associate.

Delivering Tinubu’s message, Edun highlighted Daniel’s accomplishments across engineering, business, and politics, particularly his role in founding Kresta Laurel, a leading firm in elevator installation and maintenance in Nigeria.

Tinubu, through Edun, also commended Daniel’s impact in public office, noting his focus on industrialisation, infrastructure, education, and public-private partnerships after assuming office in 2003.

Among his landmark achievements, the President referenced the development of an agro-allied cargo airport and the establishment of the Tai Solarin University of Education.

Beyond the celebrations, Daniel used the occasion to address pressing national issues, including misinformation, corruption, and declining ethical standards in governance.

He warned that limited access to credible information continues to shape poor political choices among citizens.

On corruption, Daniel proposed bold structural reforms, including the possibility of granting amnesty to encourage the repatriation of illicit funds held abroad, while also pointing to the role of global financial systems in enabling such practices.

He further called for a return to ethical leadership anchored on the Omoluabi ethos—emphasising integrity, accountability, and moral discipline—as a pathway to sustainable national development.

On security, the senator expressed support for ongoing discussions around state policing but stressed the need for safeguards, such as State Police Councils, to prevent abuse of power.

The event also featured the unveiling of four books—Daniel in the Lions’ Den, My March through the Courts, Path to Justice, and Otunba Gbenga Daniel in the Eyes of Time—chronicling his life, career, and contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape.

Dangote’s Explosive 70th Birthday Tribute To Daniel Triggers Political Ripples, See Details

The remark interpreted by observers as “Gbenga Daniel made us” has sparked renewed debate over Ogun State’s industrial evolution

Dangote’s Explosive 70th Birthday Tribute To Daniel Triggers Political Ripples, See Details

A goodwill message by Africa’s foremost industrialist, Aliko Dangote, to former Ogun State governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, on his 70th birthday has stirred significant political and economic reactions, with stakeholders dissecting what many describe as a far-reaching endorsement of Daniel’s legacy.

In the message, Dangote credited Daniel’s administration for creating a conducive business environment that enabled the rapid growth of his organisation, a statement that has since generated conversations across political circles, policy communities, and the private sector.

The remark interpreted by observers as “Gbenga Daniel made us” has sparked renewed debate over Ogun State’s industrial evolution and the leadership responsible for laying its economic foundation.

Across Ogun’s political landscape, Dangote’s statement is already being viewed as a defining intervention in legacy discourse.

Political analysts note that, the comment reinforces Daniel’s image as a pro-investment governor.

It subtly introduces a comparative lens on successive administrations.

It may influence ongoing alignments and elite consensus ahead of future political calculations.

Within party structures and stakeholder blocs, discussions have reportedly intensified over the implications of Dangote’s position, particularly given his stature and influence in Nigeria’s economic ecosystem.

In the business space, Dangote’s acknowledgment has been interpreted as a validation of policy-driven growth, with industry watchers pointing to Ogun State’s rise as a manufacturing hub during and after Daniel’s tenure.

Experts argue that such a public statement from a figure of Dangote’s standing carries weight, as it links governance decisions directly to private-sector expansion outcomes.

Dangote’s tribute also highlighted a long-standing relationship with Daniel spanning over three decades, built on mutual trust and collaboration. This disclosure has further fueled commentary about the intersection of political leadership and enterprise success in Nigeria.

The fallout from the message has extended into broader conversations about leadership evaluation, with some stakeholders revisiting policy frameworks that attracted investments into Ogun State.

* The sustainability of such frameworks over time

* The role of leadership continuity in economic growth

For many observers, Dangote’s remarks have effectively reopened the scorecard on Ogun’s development trajectory.

While the message was intended to celebrate Daniel’s 70th birthday, its aftermath suggests a wider impact.

Analysts agree that Dangote’s statement has reignited legacy debates within Ogun State politics, amplified discussions around governance and economic outcomes and positioned Daniel prominently within current political and economic conversations.

As reactions continue to unfold, the consensus is clear, what began as a goodwill message has evolved into a catalyst for political reflection and economic discourse.

With Aliko Dangote’s words now echoing across multiple spheres, Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s legacy is once again at the center of a conversation that extends well beyond his 70th birthday.
