Ogun 2027: How Olumide Osoba & Senator Adeola Yayi Relate Away From Public Eye

Osoba is reportedly quite comfortable in Yayi’s company, often enjoying leisure time at the senator’s residence in Abuja. “There’s certainly no animosity between them; their relationship remains strong”

As discussions and predictions about the next governor of Ogun State intensify, insiders have revealed the true dynamics between Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, widely known as Yayi, and Federal House of Representatives member Olumide Osoba.

Osoba, the son of esteemed elder statesman Olusegun Osoba—who previously served as governor of Ogun and is closely associated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu—emerges as another potential successor to Governor Dapo Abiodun, albeit mentioned in hushed tones. Sources indicate that while many politicians speculate about how these gubernatorial contenders will outmaneuver each other to secure the nomination, Senator Yayi and Representative Osoba have maintained a strong alliance.

Both politicians are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), with Yayi holding a higher profile and Osoba firmly established in the political legacy of his father. “Despite being in the political arena, it’s well-known that Olumide Osoba operates within a tight-knit circle, which includes Senator Yayi, who serves as a mentor to him,” insiders report.

At just 47 years old, Osoba is reportedly quite comfortable in Yayi’s company, often enjoying leisure time at the senator’s residence in Abuja. “There’s certainly no animosity between them; their relationship remains strong,” sources affirm.

In addition to his role as the APC leader in Ogun State and beyond, the elder statesman Olusegun Osoba has been a guiding figure for the 55-year-old Senator Adeola Yayi. With an extensive background in politics, including stints as a state legislator, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, and a senator in Lagos State, Adeola Yayi has captured attention in Ogun State as a recent member of the Red Chamber, representing Ogun West. He was elected in 2023, building on the support he garnered for Governor Abiodun in the 2019 and 2023 elections through the political framework he has cultivated since 2015, when discussions about his gubernatorial aspirations first emerged.

As the prospect of the 2027 election draws nearer, Yayi has become a leading figure in conversations regarding the next governor of Ogun State. Conversely, Olumide Osoba is currently serving his third term, representing the Obafemi Owode/Odeda/Abeokuta North Federal constituency in Ogun Central senatorial district.

Elder Statesman Olusegun Osoba

Although his name is being mentioned as a possible next governor of Ogun state, the likelihood—without taking away from the impact he has made—seems more linked to the formidable clout of  elder statesman Olusegun Osoba – his highly influential father. ...Continue Reading
