Olota Joins Obasanjo, Olowu at 2026 Odun Omo Olowu Celebration in London
The Olota of the Ancient and Paramount Ottaland, Awori Kingdom, His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, has reaffirmed the importance of cultural unity, brotherhood, and peaceful coexistence as he attended the 2026 edition of Odun Omo Olowu held in London.
The colourful cultural gathering took place on May 9, 2026, at the Oasis Banqueting Hall, Barking, London, and brought together prominent sons and daughters of Owu Kingdom in the Diaspora, alongside friends and well-wishers celebrating the rich traditions and heritage of the Owu people.
According to a statement made available to Newsheadline247 by the Principal Secretary to the Olota, Prince Sulaimon Olusesi, the monarch joined His Royal Majesty, Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Abeokuta, at the prestigious event.
Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, a respected son of Owu Kingdom popularly known as Ebora Owu, attended the celebration as the Special Guest of Honour.
Also present was the newly installed Yeye Moremi Oodua, Her Excellency Olufunso Amosun, who represented former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, CON.
The event equally featured the presence of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Hammed Adekunle Makama Oyelude, Tegbosun III, the Olowu of Owu Kuta, alongside other traditional rulers of Owu origin, eminent personalities, and distinguished guests from different walks of life.
The Olota attended the celebration alongside his wife, Her Highness Olori Oloruntoyin Obalanlege, and congratulated the Olowu of Owu and the entire Owu Kingdom community for the successful hosting of the 2026 Odun Omo Olowu celebration in the Diaspora.
Kabiyesi Olota also reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the cordial relationship between the Olota and the Olowu royal institutions, noting that the long-standing bond between both ancient kingdoms would continue to foster peace, unity, and mutual development.
Also accompanying the Olota to the event was the Asiwaju Bobaniyi of the Ancient Ottaland, Awori Kingdom, Asiwaju Gbenga Olalekan Oso, whose presence further highlighted the commitment to deepening the historic relationship between Ota and Owu Kingdoms.
