“The maiden edition of the JAC Motors Abeokuta 10klm Marathon will go down the books of history as one monumental event that will add to the growth and development of Abeokuta and Ogun state at large”.
These are the words of the Managing Director, Nilayo Sports Management Limited, Hon. Bukola Olawale Olopade while addressing journalists on Thursday, 25th July 2019 at the prestigious IBD International Hotels, Leme, Abeokuta Ogun State.
The two-term commissioner for Youth and Sports in Ogun state, used the media parley to thank the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the huge support the government of the state has given the organisers of the race, he also highlighted the benefits of the race to the development of the state, the tourism potentials as well as the direct economic benefits therein.
Emphasis was made on one of the aims of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, that is using sports as a veritable tool of tackling unemployment especially among the youth and also to sensitize the people on the realities of road racing.
Major sponsors and partners of the JAC Motors Abeokuta 10Klm Race while delivering their speeches were full of optimism and are particularly proud to be associated with the race. According to Mr Demola Philip Adewuyi, Head of Sales, Elizade Autoland (JAC) “marathon has a lot to do with development and progress and that is what we stand for at JAC Motors. Ours is an international brand and we have partnered with lots of other major events, we are very elated to be part of this race and as the headline sponsor of the event, we will leave no stone unturned to ensure this event is a huge success.
In his own address, Mr Wale Ayilara, the Managing Director of Leadwey Investment Limited, the official Real Estate partners to the JAC Motors Abeokuta 10klm marathon said “ this is homecoming for me as a son of the soil(Abeokuta), our sojourn in the business world has taken us at Leadwey to many parts, this is giving back to my root and am proud to be associated with this event and even subsequent ones”.
The Marketing Officer of Rite Foods, makers of Bigi products, Yetunde Jack said the entire management of Rite foods are throwing their weight behind the race, acknowledged the government of Prince Dapo Abiodun and emphasised on the benefits of the race towards keeping healthy while applauding the organisers of the marathon for a good job done so far, asking them not to relent and ensure a complete success of the race.

Mr Femi Osobajo, the Senior Marketing Manager of Betnaija said “the main reason of partnering with Nilayo Sports Management Limited on the marathon is pretty simple, it is all about providing that man on the street one good chance and success is guaranteed, just like our ideology at Bet Naija, creating opportunities. We are elated to be part of the race and we are going ahead to sign a three-year contract with the organisers after the completion of this one”.
Mr Seyi Johnson, the Project Manager of the Jac Motors Abeokuta 10klm marathon spoke about the technicalities of the race, water and refreshment points, entertainments and invited music acts, some historical and notable places to be captured in the race, prize money for winners, expected elite athletes, ongoing online registration which is free that has over three thousand persons already registered and security being in place to ensure the protection of all and sundry either participating or tourists that will beseige the Gateway state to witness the historic event.
The JAC Motors Abeokuta 10klm Marathon is billed to hold in Abeokuta on the 3rd of November 2019, with the starting point at Iyana Oloke through Onikolobo, Omida, Sapon, Itoko, Arinlese, Saje, Adatan, Isale Ake and the finish point is at the palace of the Alake of Egbaland.
