Amidst a festive atmosphere, Hon. Taiwo Oyekan, the Deputy Leader of Lagos Island Local Government and a record-breaking council legislator, generously distributed Twenty Million Naira (N20 million) to vulnerable residents throughout the Lagos Island Local Government Area as part of his socioeconomic empowerment initiatives.
Widows, the elderly, individuals with disabilities, petty traders, artisans, and other underprivileged community members each received Thirty Thousand Naira (N30,000). Additionally, hundreds of 5kg bags of rice and filled 3kg gas cylinders were given to constituents.
Hon. Oyekan also presented a patrol vehicle to the Nigeria Police Force at Ebute-Ero Police Station and rolled out two school buses to facilitate transportation for students.
Furthermore, he provided two pilgrimage slots to the local political ward.
In his address, the grassroots politician emphasized his dedication to serving his constituents and promised to deliver people-centric infrastructure projects across the island. “I understand the needs of the residents of Lagos Island Local Government Area, and it is crucial to improve their standard of living,” he stated.
He added, “My comprehensive and life-changing socioeconomic initiatives are primarily designed to uplift residents and enhance the livability of our communities.” Oyekan urged beneficiaries to make the most of the support they received.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the efforts of both state and federal governments.
During the event, Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Dr. Afolabi Abiodun, Special Adviser on Political, Legislative, and Civic Engagement, commended Hon. Oyekan for his impactful contributions to the community.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed his appreciation for Oyekan’s numerous life-changing interventions.

On his part, Lagos Governor’s Advisory Council Chairman, Alh. Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi extolled Hon. Oyekan for his Feats .

He stated that the Oyekan lineage are noted for community service and excellence.
Prince Olusi tasked other public officer holders to emulate Hon. Oyekan.

Over the years, Thousands of Small and Medium Scale Business Owners have received Business Development Funds and Equipment from Hon. Oyekan.
He had also organised Skill Development and Mentorship Training for Start-Ups.
Recall that the Iconic Council Legislator had organised Free Summer Coachings, Presented Scholarships running into Millions of Naira and organised Skill Acquisition Trainings for students and Youths on Lagos Island Local Government Area and beyond.

He also Presented a Utility Bus to a Lagos Community Security Outfit, The Isale-Eko Community Security Team otherwise known as ‘Folumo’ to scale-up Security architecture in the Premier Local Government Area.
