Former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the successful rescue of the students and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the operation as a major victory against insecurity.
In a statement, Adelabu said the successful rescue reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians while intensifying efforts to combat insecurity across the country.
He praised President Tinubu’s leadership, noting that the swift response of security agencies under the President’s directive demonstrated the administration’s determination to safeguard citizens, particularly schoolchildren.
Adelabu expressed relief that the victims were rescued unharmed, saying their abduction had generated widespread concern within Oriire and across Oyo State.
According to him, the safe return of the students and teachers is a victory not only for their families but also for President Tinubu, Oyo State and Nigeria.
The former minister also said the successful operation highlighted the importance of collaboration between federal and state security agencies, as well as the support of local communities.
He commended the security personnel for their professionalism and bravery while appreciating traditional rulers, community leaders and residents of Oriire for providing intelligence that contributed to the rescue.
Adelabu further acknowledged the cooperation between the Oyo State Government and federal security agencies, describing the partnership as vital to addressing security challenges.
He, however, urged the state government to strengthen security around schools, especially in rural communities, and provide psychosocial support and counselling for the rescued students and teachers to aid their recovery from the traumatic experience.
He also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with credible information that could help prevent future attacks.
Adelabu reaffirmed his commitment to supporting policies and initiatives aimed at protecting learners, improving community security and promoting lasting peace and stability across Oyo State.
