MTN Nigeria donates 149 MiFi devices to teachers at the Digital Educator Conference in Lagos to improve connectivity and digital learning
MTN Equips 149 Nigerian Teachers With MiFi Devices to Drive Digital Education
MTN Nigeria has strengthened its support for digital education with the donation of 149 MiFi devices to teachers at the fourth Digital Educator Conference & Exhibition in Lagos.
The initiative is designed to give educators more reliable internet access, enabling them to use digital learning resources, improve classroom instruction and participate in professional development programmes.
The devices were presented on August 6 at the Ecobank Headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos, during a conference attended by more than 700 educators, policymakers, school administrators, technology experts and development partners.
The gathering focused on addressing Nigeria’s digital skills gap and equipping teachers with the knowledge and technology required to deliver future-ready learning experiences.
Speaking on the donation, Idowu Adesokan, General Manager, Consumer Segment Management at MTN Nigeria, said the company remained committed to giving educators the tools required to thrive in modern learning environments.
“The future of education depends on the ability of teachers to adapt to a rapidly changing digital landscape. Through this donation, we are improving access to connectivity and digital resources. We are enabling educators to engage with new teaching methods, access global knowledge networks, and better prepare learners for the demands of the modern economy. Our goal is to ensure that teachers remain at the centre of Nigeria’s digital transformation,” he said.
One of the beneficiaries, Ibukunoluwa Ogooluwa, a biology teacher at Deeper Life High School, Abeokuta Campus, described the intervention as timely, saying reliable connectivity was increasingly important to effective teaching and professional development.
“We are grateful to MTN Nigeria for this timely support. Reliable internet connectivity is essential for teachers seeking to access digital learning resources, participate in professional development programmes and improve classroom delivery. This donation will help many educators stay connected to the tools, knowledge and opportunities needed to better serve their students,” she said.
Ogooluwa said sustained investment in teachers’ digital capacity could improve learning outcomes as schools increasingly adopt technology-driven teaching methods.
The MiFi devices are expected to give the beneficiaries continued access to online learning platforms, instructional materials and professional development opportunities beyond the conference.
The initiative also highlights the growing role of private-sector partnerships in supporting educators and expanding access to digital learning opportunities for Nigerian students.
