Sporting Lagos coach Jeffrey Buter explains his tactical switch after the Tech Boys beat Plateau United 3-2 to extend their unbeaten NPFL run to six games
Buter Reveals Tactical Masterstroke as Sporting Lagos Stun Plateau United 3-2
Sporting Lagos head coach Jeffrey Buter has revealed the tactical adjustment that helped his side secure a dramatic 3-2 away victory over Plateau United, as the Tech Boys extended their unbeaten run in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to six matches.
Sporting Lagos produced a battling performance at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday to claim their third away win of the season and maintain their impressive form on the road.
Buter said the decision to change his team’s pressing structure proved crucial, limiting Plateau United’s attacking options and allowing Sporting Lagos to take control of the contest in the second half.
“We switched our press to a 4-5-1, which limited their wingers and fullbacks from having time and space.
“I think we played a very good second half. We dominated the game, found the early equaliser and went on to finish the game,” Buter told reporters after the match.
The victory further strengthened Sporting Lagos’ position in the league standings, taking them to within two points of leaders Rivers United and reigning champions Rangers International, who occupy second place.
With their unbeaten streak now standing at six league matches, Sporting Lagos will look to sustain their momentum as the NPFL campaign progresses.
