Abdul Samad Rabiu Meets Tinubu in Makkah, Prays for Nigeria

Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has shared a message of faith and national unity following his meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, where the Nigerian leader arrived ahead of Friday prayers.

Rabiu disclosed the encounter in a message accompanying photographs of the meeting, describing the occasion as a moment of honour and gratitude as he joined the President on his journey to the holy city.

The billionaire industrialist said he was privileged to welcome Tinubu upon his arrival in Makkah, using the occasion to offer prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity and prosperity.

“A moment of honour and gratitude as we welcomed His Excellency the President upon his arrival, privileged to accompany him on this blessed journey to the Holy City of Makkah on the eve of Jummah,” Rabiu wrote.

He further called for divine intervention in the affairs of the country, expressing hope that the Friday prayers would bring lasting peace and prosperity to Nigeria.

“May Allah accept our prayers on this blessed Friday and bless our beloved nation with lasting peace, unity, and prosperity,” he added.

The meeting brings together two prominent figures in Nigeria’s political and business landscape, with Rabiu among the country’s leading industrialists and a major player in the private sector.

He is the founder and chairman of BUA Group, one of Nigeria’s largest conglomerates, with extensive business interests in cement manufacturing, food production and infrastructure.

Beyond his corporate investments, Rabiu has built a reputation for philanthropic interventions through the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative, popularly known as ASR Africa.

Established in 2021, the initiative was launched with an annual $100 million commitment to support sustainable development projects across Africa, particularly in healthcare, education and social development.

Through the initiative, Rabiu has supported the development and rehabilitation of healthcare facilities, university infrastructure and educational institutions, with interventions aimed at improving access to essential services and strengthening public institutions.

His philanthropic activities also include contributions to Nigeria’s private-sector response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, when businesses and individuals mobilised resources to support the country’s efforts to contain the outbreak.

Rabiu’s message from Makkah placed particular emphasis on the need for peace, unity and prosperity in Nigeria, at a time when national cohesion and economic development remain important issues in the country’s public discourse.

His prayer for the nation followed his encounter with Tinubu in the Saudi Arabian city, with the industrialist expressing gratitude for the opportunity to accompany the President on the spiritually significant journey.
