The Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Sego, has publicly endorsed Damilola Ayinde Marshal, daughter of Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM 1, for the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The endorsement was captured in a short video shared on Damilola’s Snapchat account on Wednesday, where the Surulere Constituency II aspirant was seen presenting customised caps to the NURTW chairman during a political consultation meeting ahead of the All Progressives Congress primaries.
Speaking during the meeting, Sego urged APC members and supporters to rally behind Damilola’s ambition.
“When it is time for the primary election, everybody should come out in large numbers and vote for Dami, Omo Anifowose. She is the one capable of delivering. The development of Surulere is our collective responsibility, and this is our time,” he said.
The endorsement further boosts support for Damilola’s bid to represent Surulere Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly under the APC platform.
The lawyer, who currently serves as Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, had earlier declared her intention to contest the seat through an Instagram post.
“I am excited to announce that I, Barrister Damilola Ayinde Marshal, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” she wrote.
Damilola stated that her legal and professional experience has equipped her for public service and effective representation.
“I am a woman driven by excellence and results. I am ready to serve and lead. With my background, I am fully prepared to fight for issues that truly matter. I also promise to be a voice for the youths in the House,” she added.
She further described herself as part of a new generation of leaders committed to youth inclusion, grassroots development, and progressive governance.
“As a young woman, I believe this is exactly what my people need at this moment, and that is why I decided to step forward,” she said.
If successful, Damilola is expected to replace the current representative of Surulere Constituency II, Mosunmola Rotimi Sangodara, who currently occupies the seat under the APC platform.
