OgunEduCASH: Alleged non-payment of artisans’ dues taints Gov. Abiodun’s education support program

“With no advance payments made by the state government, these artisans delivered their work with dedication, yet they have been left wandering the halls of the Governor’s Office in Oke Mosan”

Concerns are mounting over the non-payment of artisan fees six months after they completed their contracts under Ogun State Government‘s education support program.

Launched six months ago by Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, the ‘OgunEduCASH’ initiative aims to provide educational assistance to students at all levels within state-owned institutions.

To promote access to basic education, Governor Abiodun has initiated the distribution of education grants, offering N50,000 to students in tertiary institutions and N10,000 to economically disadvantaged children in public primary and secondary schools.

According to sources, the state government has distributed thousands of free exercise books, a program hailed as a valuable opportunity for students.

Those familiar with the development informed that local contractors who produced and supplied the exercise books have yet to receive payment for their services. One anonymous source expressed concern, stating, “It is deeply troubling that six months have passed, and artisans involved in the production of the distributed exercise books still await their payment.”

The source added, “With no advance payments made by the state government, these artisans delivered their work with dedication, yet they have been left wandering the halls of the Governor’s Office in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, still unpaid at the time of this report.”

“These artisans, often needing to borrow funds to fulfill their contracts successfully, find themselves in a precarious situation. Although the state has distributed the exercise books, many artisans are now facing financial pressure from their creditors for contracts completed on behalf of the Ogun State Government over six months ago.

“The state’s GDP is increasing due to the tax compliance of citizens who fulfill their obligations to the government. It’s unfortunate that a contract completed six months ago remains unpaid to these hardworking artisans,” the source concluded. …Continue Reading
