Edo Guber Election: What To Know About Governor-Elect Monday Okpebholo

Okpebholo won the Edo Central Senatorial District seat in February 2023, ending the Peoples Democratic Party’s 24-year dominance in the region

Senator Monday Okpebholo was declared the winner of the Edo State governorship election, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday following a keenly contested gubernatorial poll.

Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress candidate, secured 291,667 votes, winning in eleven of the eighteen Local Government Areas.

His closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, received 247,274 votes, while Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party finished third with 22,761 votes.
