Segun Ogungbe Debunks Rumour, Says Wife and Baby Mama Were Never Friends

Popular Nollywood actor and film producer Segun Ogungbe has addressed rumours surrounding his personal life, clarifying that his wife and the mother of his child outside wedlock were never friends as widely reported.

Ogungbe made the clarification while speaking during a recent programme, dismissing claims that his wife, Tinuke Ogungbe, and his baby mama, Wunmi Ajiboye, shared a close relationship.

According to the actor, the story circulating on social media suggesting the two women were friends was false and originated from an individual who allegedly spread the claim out of frustration.

“My wife and my baby mama were never friends. The rumour of them being friends was a lie that was generated from social media,” he said.

Ogungbe explained that the rumour began after a female admirer who had hoped to marry him became upset upon learning that he had impregnated another woman outside wedlock.

He revealed that the admirer had previously supported him financially during the production of some of his movie projects and was disappointed by the development.

“Someone who admired me and wanted me to marry her did it. She had always been on my neck to marry her, but I said I would never get married to more than one wife,” he said.

The actor added that the woman allegedly took to social media to spread the claim that his wife and baby mama were friends, a narrative that was quickly picked up and circulated by blogs.

“It’s not true,” Ogungbe insisted, reiterating that the claim about the relationship between the two women was fabricated.

Joeboy Backs Tyla’s Grammy Win, Says South African Star ‘Deserved It’

Afrobeats singer Joeboy has thrown his weight behind South African music star Tyla following her victory at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.

Tyla clinched the Best African Music Performance category with her hit track Push 2 Start, edging out Nigerian heavyweights including Davido, Omah Lay, Wizkid, Ayra Starr and Burna Boy.

Speaking during a recent interview with Jay On Air, Joeboy admitted he had personally hoped Davido would take home the award but maintained that Tyla’s win was well deserved.

“Personally, I was rooting for Davido to win the Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys, but you can’t take it away from Tyla. She is an amazing artist, whether you accept it or not. She really put in the work,” he said.

The singer added that despite the mixed reactions trailing the announcement, Tyla’s dedication and talent justified her victory.

“People can be angry all they want, but she deserved the Grammy win. I can’t fault her triumph,” he said.

Joeboy also hinted at the possibility of working with Tyla in the future, praising her artistry and strong work ethic.

Tyla’s Grammy win has continued to spark debate among fans and some artists, with differing opinions emerging over the outcome of the category.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned alleged serial fraudster Titilayo Eboh before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court, Ikeja, Lagos, over a staggering ₦1.87 billion foreign exchange fraud.

Eboh was charged alongside Chayomi Aluminium Limited and Abubakar Funtua (currently at large) on a three‑count indictment bordering on conspiracy, stealing, and obtaining money by false pretence.

According to EFCC prosecutors, the defendants allegedly defrauded businessmen Olamayowa Abdulwasiu Olabisi and Adekanmi Adedire of Himark Intertrades Limited, under the guise of providing dollar equivalents for foreign exchange transactions.

2027: Governors Don’t Decide Elections, Nigerians Want Change — Aisha Yesufu

0

Social critic and activist Aisha Yesufu has said that victory in the 2027 general elections will not be determined by the number of governors controlled by a political party.

Speaking during an interview on Politics Today on Channels Television, Yesufu argued that growing support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) reflects the strong desire among Nigerians for political change.

According to her, the enthusiasm surrounding the party indicates that many citizens are eager to participate in what they believe could become a transformative political movement.

“Nigerians are passionate, and we are going to do this by the grace of God,” she said.

Yesufu noted that political strength should not be measured by the number of governors aligned with a party, pointing out that such advantages have not always translated into electoral success in Nigeria.

She argued that the ruling party’s attempt to gather support from governors could create only an “illusion of power.”

According to her, President Bola Tinubu may already be facing challenges ahead of the next presidential election.

“Once upon a time, I think PDP had twenty-something governors. It didn’t stop them from losing the election when the time came,” she said, referring to the Peoples Democratic Party.

The activist maintained that the real determining factor in any election is the support of ordinary citizens rather than political structures.

She said the level of excitement surrounding ADC activities suggests that many Nigerians are paying closer attention to the party’s message and programmes.

“But you can see with the ADC the kind of excitement that it has garnered,” she stated.

Yesufu also described Nigeria’s current political and economic situation as troubling, saying many citizens are worried about insecurity and governance challenges.

“Right now, Nigeria as a whole is a glitch. There is nothing working, whether economically or in terms of security,” she said.

According to her, the country appears to be experiencing a period of stagnation, with many Nigerians feeling that governance has slowed down.

“Nigeria is on standstill. There’s no governance and nothing is going on,” she added.

Despite the challenges, Yesufu insisted that members of the ADC are prepared to provide leadership if given the opportunity.

She pledged that the party would pay attention to the concerns and aspirations of Nigerians.
“There are people here who are saying we will listen, and yes, of course, we will always listen to Nigerians,” she said.

Responding to concerns that political engagement through online platforms might exclude people in rural communities, the activist dismissed the claim, saying most parts of the country now have access to communication networks.

“There’s no part in Nigeria where you don’t have network,” she said.
She added that the party has also created offline registration options to ensure inclusiveness.

“We also have physical forms at the wards. People can fill the forms and they will be uploaded from there,” she explained.

Tinubu/Dikko 2027 Group Donates 95 Bags of Rice, N11m to APC Leaders in Katsina
A political support group backing Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections has donated 95 bags of rice and N11 million to officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State.

The gesture was carried out by the Tinubu/Dikko Assured 2027 initiative led by its Director General and founder, Umar Zayyad. The items were presented on his behalf by the group’s Katsina State Coordinator, Khalil Aminu, alongside members of the state steering committee.

According to the group, the distribution covered several levels of the party structure in Katsina Local Government Area.

Each of the 12 wards in the local government received five bags of rice and N500,000.

In addition, 15 bags of rice and N2 million were handed over to the local government executives, while 20 bags of rice and N3 million were allocated to the state executives of the party.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Media Secretary in Danja Local Government Area, Nuradeen Shehu, expressed hope that the donations would support party members during the Ramadan period.

He also prayed for divine acceptance of the group’s acts of charity during the holy month.

The group had earlier carried out an empowerment programme across the three senatorial districts of Katsina State, distributing tools, materials, and cash support to beneficiaries.

Each beneficiary reportedly received N30,000 as part of the initiative aimed at supporting grassroots mobilization and economic empowerment.

APC Wants Tinubu as Sole Candidate in 2027, Nigerians Will Resist — Dele Momodu

APC Wants Tinubu as Sole Candidate in 2027, Nigerians Will Resist — Dele Momodu
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of making strategic moves aimed at ensuring that Bola Tinubu emerges as the only candidate on the ballot in the 2027 general elections.

Momodu made the claim on Thursday during an interview on Arise Television, monitored by Newsheadline.

The former presidential aspirant argued that the dominance of the APC across states does not intimidate the opposition, insisting that the party could still lose if elections were conducted today.

According to him, the ruling party’s control of 31 state governors does not automatically translate into electoral victory.
“If the election is held today, APC will be defeated,” Momodu said.

The Ovation Magazine publisher also criticized the conduct of the recent Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory, alleging excessive government involvement.

He claimed authorities imposed strict security measures and accused the territory’s minister of taking an unusually active role in the electoral process.

“The APC is trying to make sure that President Tinubu is the only candidate on the ballot,” Momodu said.

“They are trying to manoeuvre, but Nigerians are wiser than them. We are not worried or panicking in the ADC.”

Momodu further questioned the security arrangements during the council polls, stating that a curfew was reportedly declared across parts of the capital city.

“Just one election in a small city like FCT, they had to declare a curfew, and the minister of the FCT became the IGP, personally supervising polling stations across the city,” he added.

Momodu’s comments come amid growing political debate over the strength of Nigeria’s opposition parties and the likely dynamics of the 2027 general elections.

While the APC maintains strong political influence across many states, opposition figures continue to argue that voter sentiment could shift significantly before the next presidential contest.

LeBron James Sets New NBA Field Goal Record Despite Lakers’ 120–113 Loss to Nuggets

LeBron James Sets New NBA Field Goal Record Despite Lakers’ Loss to Nuggets
LeBron James etched another milestone into his legendary career on Thursday night, becoming the NBA’s all-time leader in field goals made. However, the historic moment could not prevent the Los Angeles Lakers from falling 120–113 to the Denver Nuggets.

The 41-year-old surpassed the previous record of 15,837 field goals held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar after draining a fadeaway jumper in the first quarter. The achievement adds another chapter to a career already defined by longevity and record-breaking performances.

James, who also holds the NBA’s all-time scoring record with more than 43,000 career points, finished the game with 16 points.

The milestone night briefly turned worrying late in the fourth quarter when James appeared to injure his left elbow after being pushed off balance and falling onto a cameraman near the sideline.

Play was temporarily halted as the veteran forward left the court. Though he returned for the final two minutes, he was visibly in discomfort.

Despite the Lakers mounting a late push to cut the deficit to a single point with two minutes remaining, the Nuggets held firm to secure a wire-to-wire victory.

Reigning star Nikola Jokic led Denver with another dominant triple-double, posting 28 points, 13 assists, and 12 rebounds.

“They’re a difficult team to beat,” Jokic said after the game. “We scored when we needed.”

The result could prove significant in the Western Conference playoff race. The Lakers currently occupy the sixth and final automatic playoff spot, sitting just ahead of Denver.

Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns missed an opportunity to close the gap after suffering a narrow 105–103 loss to the Chicago Bulls.

James reached the scoring record in 2023 when he surpassed Abdul-Jabbar. While part of that feat came in the modern era with the three-point line—something Abdul-Jabbar did not benefit from for much of his career—the new field goal record further underscores James’ remarkable durability across a record 23 NBA seasons.

Amid growing speculation about retirement, James hinted earlier this year that his future remains uncertain.

“I don’t know what the future holds,” he told reporters in January.
For now, however, the four-time NBA champion continues to rewrite the record books.
